Professional Photographers of America :
PPA has 150 years of glory. It is the largest photographer community of the world. It is a nonprofit photography association for professional photographers and by the professional photographers. This famous association was established in December, 1868. That time its name was ‘National Photographic Association of the United States’. In April, 1880 it was officially founded by the name of ‘Photographic Association of America’. Today it is known as the ‘Professional Photographers of America’. Their mission is “To create a vibrant community of successful photographers by providing education, resources and industry standards of excellence”. Now it serves worldwide with 30,000 members in more than 50 countries. To establish a successful community of professional photographers, it runs some projects. PPA provides education resources for developing skill in photography to cope up in this industry. PPA helps photographers to build up their photography excellence. The organization provides insurance, certificates, copyright sales & marketing tools and many more facilities for the professional photographers. It talks about the right of photographers and advocating photographers and the artists of this industry. PPA has published their magazine ‘Professional Photographers’ since 1907.
American Society of Media Photographers:
Formed in 1944.Former name was ‘Society of Magazine Photographers’. Then it had been changed to the name ‘American Society of Media Photographers’.77 years of glory ASMP has 38 local chapters across America. It is a non-profit trade association for the world’s most respected photographers. ASMP provides education for better business practices, promotes photographers, raise voice for photographers right and proper wages .It also helps photographers connecting with clients. It is the best platform for those who creates images and wants to publish them. ASMP advocates photographer’s legal rights and provides them technical information. American Society of Picture Professionals:
ASPP is nonprofit organization of photographers. Since 1966 it built up as an expert community of sharing knowledge, experience, providing educational opportunities for the photographers. In ASPP photographers can create, edit, research and publish photographs. It creates a forum where multidisciplinary discussion occur evolving photography. ASPP is a platform for exchanging information of this industry ethics and standards, practicing this business and building up new technology for the photography art. ASPP has strong commitment to enhancing visual art content. It is a creator, seller and buyer of photography, also a researcher of photography art. It has around 800 members throughout the US and overseas. ASPP publishes magazine ‘The Pictures Professional’.
Advertising Photographers of America :
The organization was formed in 1981. It is a leading national photographer forum. It has a mission of creating successful advertising photographers. For the purposes it creates goal to promote, endorse, gives a platform of practicing professionally towards advertising photographers. APA also works as a community who speaks for the rights of image makers and advertising photographers throughout the United States and the world. In 2010 it has been changed into the name American Photographic Artists for expanding its working circumference. Its culture is promoting spirit of mutual cooperation and sharing knowledge. Its mission is inspiring and mentoring new generation come forward accepting the challenge of being visual communicators. Moreover the organization provides tools to the members becoming proficient and smart photographer.
American Photographers Association :
APA is a professional organization of American photographers including overseas photographers. Intentions of this organization are exploring photographic art, promoting this art work of photography and disseminating photographic knowledge. For this purpose APA provides training, education to the photographers developing their photographic skills. The Organization also arranges photography competition, exhibition and other activities for spreading the knowledge.
National Press Photographers Association :
It was founded in 1946. It is a national association of still photographers, television videographers, editors and students of journalism. NPPA encourages photo journalist. The organization believes that photo journalists present a story through images and videos. It visualizes many untold story. NPPA organizes competition, seminar, contents and workshops to increase the professional skill and grow ability of its members. This association also offers many beneficial activities for the members like job bank, online board discussion, critique service. NPPA has almost 6000 members throughout the US.
Photographic Society of America :
Former name of this association was Associated Camera Club of America which was established I 1920. Initial member of this club was only 22 camera clubs across the US. In1934 the Association Camera Club of America had changed their name into Photographic Society of America (PSA). With the change of the name the circumferences of work and purpose of this association had changed also. Similar to other photographic association this organization also promotes and encourages the art and the hidden science of photography. PSA encourages members and non-members photographers. It also arranges many competition, seminar, workshop and trainings for the better enrichment of knowledge of the photographers.
The best competition arranged by PSA is American International Film Festival. Where non-professional photographers can participate with a film of 16 mm and 8mm. PSA also publish magazine of photography. It also arranges many awards giving ceremony for the best excellency of the photographers, film makers and videographers.
North American Nature Photography Association :
North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) is nature dedicated organization. Photographers who discover the beauty of nature, the adventure of nature, the mystery of nature and show we fool people destroy our nature by doing rubbish work are welcomed by this association. It was founded in 1994. Including several categories there are about 2500 members in this association. NANPA promotes the art, technique and science of nature photography .It is a medium of communication between those who are interested in nature photography. The organization encourages exploring mysterious wild life. NANPA is also a media of nature appreciation and make concern about necessity of environment protection. Like any other association it arranges summits, seminar, photography competition for increasing skill and activity of nature photographers. Society for Photographic Education :
It is a non-profit organization which is providing forum for the discussion and sharing knowledge of photography and photographic related media. It is the media of expressing creativity and cultural insight of photography. SPE drives many interdisciplinary programs and publication. These provide a broader understanding of photography in all forms. The society seeks the foster development of the photographer through practice, education, teaching, scholarship and criticism. Every year SPE arranges annual conference where gathering of photo journalist, artists, students share the history and thinking of photography’s past, present and future. SPE publishes a journal bi annually. This benefited its members. This society encourages and gives facilities to its member and non-member alike.
Women in Photography International:
Women in Photography International(WIPI) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1981. It proclaims women’s photographic Excellency and encourages women for accepting the challenge of photography. WIPI promotes women photographers, photographer educators, researcher, students and gallery owners throughout the whole world. For the purpose the organization conducts exhibition, competition and publications. This is the largest community of women photographers where they can show their work and find inspiration for the better practice. WIPI also publish magazine where Excellency and artistic creation of women are published and which benefits it members.
